Buková hôrka catholic church

Buková hôrka
Culture

Its history dates back to 1742, but its roots are several decades older. Originally, a neglected chapel stood on the site of a later monastery. For a time, she was taken care of by a hermit, Arzén, called Bosák. He lived in a dwelling that was attached to the chapel. After his death, the buildings were enlarged, creating a monastery. To the east of this building stood a stone church, where the year 1683 was recorded. It is one of the most popular and widely visited pilgrimage sites of Greek Catholics in Slovakia. A path leads to the temple from 1792, which is placed on the gable of the mountain, along which the stops of the Stations of the Cross are located.
